Mila Takes You On A Tour Of Her Room!
Welcome! Today we are giving you a big peek inside Mila’s room. Mila’s room has sure transformed since we put her nursery together three years go! You can see her nursery HERE. We of course kept a bunch of things from her nursery when creating her “big girl” room. Though a ton is styled by Mila herself. Her room is her most favorite place in the whole house. Whenever people come over she pulls them into her room, makes them a cup of (fake) coffee and sweetly asks “Do you want to play?” A lot of the time Dan or I have to go into her room to rescue a house guest from endless play in Mila’s room haha! Mila is proud of her space and I just love that.
I thought it would be fun to have Mila herself show you around which is what you’ll see below. She’ll make you coffee thats always what she does first. Then she takes you around and shows you her dress up area, her shelves, and the beautiful mess that is her room. It honestly stays pretty messy in here because I love the way she imaginary plays, and most of the time she comes back to little play scenes she’s left behind.

When Mila invites you into her room, she’ll first make you a cup of delicious coffee. Everything in her kitchen area is from Melissa & Doug toys which were all purchased at either Target or Amazon.
She’ll ask if you want to play and then just jump right into whatever it is that she wants. Sometimes it’s baby dolls, sometimes it’s dress up, sometimes she’ll ask you to play music on you phone and have a dance party.
Earlier this year we finally swapped out Mila’s toddler bed for a twin bed. This one we bought from Ikea. The fun bedding is from Ikea as well. We always keep the Mickey and Minnies on her bed. The Mickey we bought when we had Ryan. One Minnie we bought when we had Mila. The third Minnie we bought and used to reveal we are having another girl.
This giant giraffe was a gift from my sister Jessica. Mila loves him and he is constantly getting dressed up. Right now he is looking fierce in a colorful boa and party hat!
On her bedside table rests some classic books we’ve had since we put together her nursery. A unicorn bank from Target and her “laptop”. Plus a little Disney cat toy Mila’s Aunt bought for her. Mila loves keeping her special things in special places. That is one thing about her that I admire, she keeps her toys in specific places and they all have a home. (Unless they are being played with, then they are any and everywhere)
For the last two years Mila has been collecting dress up clothes. She has princess dresses, a chef outfit, a CARS mechanic jumpsuit, and pirate accessories that used to belong to her brother. She wears them all and goes by different names when she has them on. I bought this dress rack off Amazon as well as the felt purple hangers. (We keep her dress up shoes + accessories in a large bin stored in her closet)
Love that Marley here is about to run away with Mila’s slipper! Haha!
These are Mila’s shelves that are hung above her dress up area. It has changed a ton since her nursery days.
That pipe cleaner crown was from a craft shoot we did for our blog last year. The surfboard Mila name tag was a gift from her Aunt.
At the top there is a birthday crown Mila’s teacher made her when they celebrated her birthday at school. I bought that art print of Olaf laying in the sand a few months after I lost Ryan. I love it so much. Also I have Ryan and Mila’s Sophie Giraffe teethers displayed. Ryan’s is nine years old now, they are both such treasures.
The tiny touches of her big brother Ryan are still in her room. A framed quote and a framed photo of the very last photo I ever took of Ryan on his last day with us. Running at Disneyland.
I’ve asked Mila if she wants to keep these in here and she says yes. A lot of the time she says Hi to Ryan and plays so well in her room by herself. Maybe he comes to visit her from time to time.
(As Mila gets older and if she ever expresses that she wants to remove these I will! I’ll move them into my room! ;)
We also have some of Ryan’s artwork framed for Mila’s nursery because I loved the thought of his artwork in her room. They are still hanging in there and she loves them. I used to think that Ryan made these all the while knowing he was making them for his little sister. Now Mila says Ryan made those for her so, I have to believe he did.
Again, if Mila ever wanted to remove them I would. But for now she seems to enjoy the little pieces of her big brother within her space.
Here you can see to the left is the large art print that used to hang above Mila’s crib. To the right you can see just the corner of Mila’s dresser. I spy Marley too hanging out!
We have a door hanger for all her backpacks and purses. The frame to the right of her door are all the swim ribbons Mila has received so far! Mila chose to hang them in that space.
We shared Mila’s reading nook HERE. It is one of Mila’s favorite spots in her room.
