Last Friday we do our first Let’s Bake! FB Live and it was a ton of fun! We thought it would great to invite you all into our kitchen to cook up sweet treats with us. The idea is that you gather your own ingredients and follow along with us. Asking questions and sending in comments as you go. Last Friday we did Chocolate Dipped Pretzels to ease us all in and it went really well! I wanted to share the how to here and a few tips on how to melt your chocolate.

We share the ingredients you need to gather on our Facebook page a few days before we go live. Keep an eye out and join us every Friday at 2pm on Facebook.com/babyboybakery

Chocolate dipped pretzels are a really simple sweet treat that our family loves! They come together pretty quickly and everyone likes to top their pretzels in their own way. It is can be a fun family activity to break up the week or enjoy on the weekend.

I like to melt chocolate chips and set out all the toppings and pretzels on baking sheets lined with a silicon mat to keep the dipped pretzels from sticking. You can also line the baking sheets with parchment paper too. It is best to contain everything on baking sheets as adding the toppings can get pretty messy. Keeping everything on baking sheets keeps everything in one place.

When it comes to toppings there is NO WRONG ANSWER! Try; sprinkles, toffee pieces, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, chopped nuts, mini marshmallows, fruit snacks, raisins, literally anything! Use little dishes to display the toppings and choose things you know your family will enjoy, along with a few surprise toppings too.

Once you have everything laid out, melt your chocolate. There are two ways to melt your chocolate. You can use a microwave safe bowl and melt your chocolate chips in 30 second increments stirring each time in between. Or you can use a double boiler as seen below. Fill a saucepan with about 2 cups of water. Bring the water to a boil. Place your chocolate chips in a heat safe bowl and fit on top of your saucepan. Turn off the heat and the steam from the water below will slowly melt your chocolate. It is important to slowly melt your chocolate to avoid burning it. You can also add a teaspoon of unsalted butter or coconut oil to your chocolate chips to help keep your melted chocolate smooth and not harden quickly. Though for something simple like this, I skip that addition and just melt my chocolate as is.

Once your chocolate has melted, use a small spatula or spoon to coat your pretzels. If they are smaller you can just dip them with your hands! Be sure to top them with your toppings while the chocolate is still wet so as the chocolate hardens the toppings will stay in place.

ENJOY!
